Celecoxib may worsen or cause anemia; people with this condition
should use caution while taking this medication.
People with high blood pressure, decreased heart function, or congestive
heart failure should take caution while using celecoxib as it may
cause fluid retention and swelling which may exacerbate these conditions.
Consult your doctor immediately if you develop swelling of the legs,
feet or ankles; shortness of breath; fatigue; excessive weight gain;
or chest pain while taking this medication,
Celecoxib is not recommended for people with advanced kidney disease.
Celecoxib may worsen liver disease, therefore, people with this
condition should be monitored closely by their doctors.
Celecoxib may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid driving, operating
dangerous machinery, or engaging in other activities that require
alertness and coordination if you find that this medication makes
you drowsy.
Celecoxib may increase the risk of high potassium levels, especially
in seniors, people with conditions like diabetes or kidney failure,
or those taking certain other medications. Potassium levels should
be monitored periodically during long-term treatment.
Celecoxib may cause such stomach problems as ulcers or bleeding.
Call your doctor if you notice stomach or abdominal pain, black
tarry stools, or vomiting of blood. Using ASA at the same time as
this medication increases the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.
The safety of using this medication during pregnancy has not yet
been established. It should be used by pregnant women only if the
potential benefit outweighs the potential risk. It should be avoided
during late pregnancy.
Discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of nursing while
taking this medication as it is not known if this medication passes
into breast milk..
