Interactions
The following medications or agents may affect
the way that atorvastatin works or increase the risk of side effects:
cimetidine
clarithromycin
antacids
azole antifungal medications
grapefruit juice
macrolide antibiotics
colestipol
cyclosporine
erythromycin
fibric acid derivatives
terfenadine
verapamil
nefazodone
niacin
protease inhibitors
cholestyramine
Atorvastatin may affect the way the following
medications work:
digoxin
oral contraceptives containing ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone
If you are taking any of these medications, speak
with your doctor.
Other medications may interact with this medication
as well. Tell your doctor about all prescription, non-prescription,
and herbal medications that you are taking. Tell them also about
any supplements you are taking. Caffeine, alcohol, nicotine from
cigarettes, or street drugs can also affect many medications, you
should let your doctor know if you use any of them.
Who should NOT take this medication?
This medication should not be used by anyone who:
is pregnant
is breast-feeding
is allergic to any component of the tablet
has active liver disease or an unexplained increases in liver function
tests
